V-Rig Application (Let Me Explain Ep.1)
pretty cool ,, wish I could see the setup in more detail, but this is going to get me thinking about better alternatives. You make your time in the tree very efficient. Lots of luck .. JRG
This is dope. Great music.
🤘
I hate to be that guy, a few minutes in it says we worship trees unless I heard wrong! Worship the good Lord! Not trees, they are simply his creation and a great one at that! I will continue watching haha just wanted to say that!
Goals. This is sick man. Absolutely love the style and flow. I hope this video explodes.
You can do the same with two drt systems
And your tied in twice that way
Pretty sad parts in this video. It’s a shame that you or what you may think there are so many tree guys that fell that way. I’m a third generation tree guy . Been climbing 35 years. Both grandfathers, three uncles and my dad. My son also climbs. I know tons of tree guys and a lot more of them don’t have these problems. Seams like a you got some personal issues . I think it’s kinda fucked up to put this kind of tag on arborists. All of all trades have problems. It’s seems to me I a generation thing. Younger kids these day have to many issues . Back in the 70s ,80s, 90s. Suck it up and take responsibility. I drink beer just like anyone else and have never been hungover or drunk at work and have fired immediately anyone who was. Hope all is well good luck. Don’t mean to be such a downer I do hope you the best. But it not these thing are not indicative of tree guys just people in any job.
First off, I respect the shit out of you for writing this. I've gotten nothing but support and praise from this project and I was hoping, waiting for someone to challenge me, or have a differing opinion. Because I'm really unable to find anyone who doesn't see what I see. So I thank you, and I respond as follows: Everyone leads different lives. Some are fortunate enough not to cross paths with such pain. I'm genuinely glad to hear the tree guys you know aren't addicts and are still alive etc. You've had a much better life than I in that regard. I've been surrounded by public-turned-closet alcohol abuse my entire life. I've been in social circles I needed to escape because they were relationships built on drug use. It goes deeper than that, too, back to childhood. It's not uncommon to bump into a tree guy with a hole in their heart because his mother never looked at him like she looked at wine. You're blind if you don't look around your industry, and the industries similar, and not see the lingering effects of trauma, substance abuse and familial dysfunction - normal folks living a closeted life of self medication while contending with a disorienting barrage of hopeless thoughts and a looming dread. Now, I normally wouldn't write some long ass thing if I didn't think "hey maybe this guy will have a civil discussion about this". Most of the time people just plant their feet and say fugg you. Because it's safer to cling to your version of reality the longer you believe it to be true, even if it's built on a delusion, it's hard to let it go. It's hard to kind of take the wool off from over your eyes, examine the numbers, and understand the generational, cultural shifts that have lent itself to this problem. It's pervasive - beyond the hi viz collar - it's all human beings that can struggle with these things. I'm only speaking on what I know. The industry I nestled into all those years ago - tree care. And my interactions, research, and observations of similar industries. If you're aware and willing enough to do some reading, here's one of many sources that confirm the high rate of chemical dependency within several of the blue and hi viz collar trades. americanaddictioncenters.org/workforce-addiction/blue-collar There are more sources if you clickity clack on google for a little while. I'd start with: "Blue collar trades suicide" "Blue collar trades trauma" "Stress injuries in manual laborers" Just a little cheat sheet for you. Climb safe, work safe, my dude.
SICK!🤙🏽💪🏽 🌲 ❤
Wyatt, no tengo palabras en ingles, ni en español, para describir el valor de tu producción pa yo y mis compas arbolistas. Please keep producing! Peace and love from the canopy in South Central Idaho and beyond.
Im proud of you, Wyatt.
Damn dude… realest thing I’ve ever seen bro… super stoked on the video production… narration action… clips… music… straight fire!
This is some real shit. Well done, sir. 🫡
keep going
Incredible Wyatt. Hope you’re doing well dude!!
Glad you caught that tree climbing is like dancing. You're not having any fun unless both feet are off the ground.
Us tree people thank you for this
and here is it all put/fused together ... so many powerful moments in here and your filmmaking style is always challenging how I take in information and process video. good stuff
What an awesome accomplishment to put this together and online for us all to think about after (as you say) all this time.
so many cool thoughts and arguments in here about work and technology, ranging from a plea for the fundamentals to an appreciation for the big shiny stuff. cool to hear your compelling notions about the job
I've been following you on IG for a while now -- but just found the RUclips stuff. Super compelling. Subscribed and eager to find some time to si down with your channel and give it my attention. Good stuff man
First you made me want to go outside and climb. Then you played my heartstrings. Love the video dude, thanks for putting yourself out there. Mad respect.
Doggie! That was awesome, you gotta do more of these!!!
Stoked to finally watch this !
Thank you for the dedication to your art and our industry.
Amazing work dude, absolutely stunning
Great job finishing this and thank you for sharing! Much love brother!
Nicely done!
Heck ya!!!!
This video is absolutely killer.
Well, stay tuned. The complete one, the new one, is currently in production. It's over an hour, footage from my entire career. Can't wait to show the community, it's the best thing I've ever made.
Nice work! I’ve never seen a box like that being used during trenching. Is the main benefit of the box to control the dirt from flying everywhere?
Best job in the world. Great work editing this video.
Great video! What saddle are you using?
Thx dude. I switch between the Tree motion and Edelrid
you seem unappreciated mostly...... but i thank you again for the inspiration and training..... at my own risk of course.......
Genuis
dude....!!!! ALWAYS have a STOP=HER not........ WTF
you are on it dude..... what a pro.....!! thank you.... and fast.....
Awesome stuff 🤙
I’m not sure what you trying to show or tell us? If you mean the rope is not smoothly releasing for a descent, the issue is the adjustment pin is not correctly set for your rope. It looks like you may be using a Sampson rope. Most people I’ve seen using the RRP have great success using the Xstatic 11.7mm rope, which includes me. It appears you have the pin adjusted between 4 and 5, which is what my brand new Xstatic rope needs for my 170lbs weight. This mechanical is awesome once it’s adjusted to the rope, buttery smooth descents. Don’t give up on it, you’ll dial it in!
1) showing a strange behavior of a new mechanical rope device for others awareness/intrigue 2) I have the device adjusted perfectly for this rope, it's between 1 and 2 (like 1.5ish) 3) it's new England KM3 max, 11mm 4) I don't weigh enough to use the runner wide open with a rope that's larger than 11.5. So I use smaller diameter ropes for this device. 5) I've tested at home and in the field hundreds of hours. It's dialed in just fine. 6) t's called a bollard, not a pin. 7) this is my 7th mechanical device and it is by far my favorite. Can't wait to see the next version.
@@UgotSprucked thanks for the in-depth response! You are far more a better expert than me, this is my first mechanical. When I first started adjusting the RRP, it scared the crap out of me, but within a few minutes I found the right adjustment for my weight and rope choice. Also, my rope was new and a bit slick, but it broke-in quickly.
This video makes me want to go climb a tree
do it. itll change your life.
What an amazing video man 🙏. I can't explain this to my guys
Good video, a lot of text though.
Wish you would have shown the retrieval. Good video nonetheless.
Wyatt, thanks for sharing man and please keep producing! I especially enjoyed the maple cable bit happening around 20:10, accompanied by that good D sonata. Hope yall have a safe, fun, and lucrative summer in Minnesota.
loveyousomuch :)
Interesting
still muted it anyway smh can i creator just create? wtf
I'll miss you, bb.
great video man, beautiful application of this climbing technique
I like your approach, looked like fun as well. I love my retrievable anchors and redirects. It's all just so much fun. Best job in the world. Can't wait until I no longer need to march through 4' of snow to do it😁
The silky saw is the most overused unnecessary tool in the trade, just use your chainsaw, the branches tore it's harder work and almost every climber has cut himself pretty badly with them as people don't respect them and they cut you down to the bone. Iv used them in the past but never use them now.
I love the v rig, it's like having a floating anchor point. As in, it gives an anchor point where there isn't one. It also acts like having two systems, but they work and tend together. A wonderful application. Although I wouldn't have used it there. I'd have used a second system, either another hitchclimber system through my thimblesaver, which would choke off nicely. Or stationary rope. I usually have my captain on a separate stationary rope set up anyway, so I'd have just made it across, and made a canopy tie to retrieve from the ground. Could also use the thimblesaver for that too, but that would involve a load of pulling rope through. I'd be less concerned about pulling those steel thimbles out of the tree than letting a pinto hit the deck from up there. Like you said, there's a million different ways to skin a cat ! So each to their own, respect.
skinning cats is weird but thaank you for your feedback sincerely
